“Carbon encapsulated of magnetite nanoparticle as potential absorbent for waste water treatment and solar steam generator”

Iron ferrite, Fe3O4, nanoparticles have attracted growing research interest due to magnetic properties and potential applications, such as pigment, toner, medicine, solar energy transform, magnetic storage and others technological applications. Nevertheless, this compound is known to suffer from oxidation at high temperature and acid environments which can change their characteristics and lead to degraded performances. Coating this compound with protective materials is a well accepted route to increase the stability, preserve its magnetic properties and adding new functionality. In this, we report synthesize and various applications of magnetite nanoparticles and carbon encapsulated of magnetite nanoparticles Fe3O4@C. The applications of Fe3O4@C in dyes waste water treatment show more efficient compare to a conventional activated carbon. The study of these nanoparticles for adsorption of humic acid (HA) from aqueous solutions using batch adsorption technique shows that these nanoparticles can be used as adsorbent with great potential for the removal of HA from peat water. Furthermore, The Fe3O4 and Fe3O4@C show potential materials as efficient nanoscale generators of steam when illuminated with sunlight where solar can convert water directly into steam even at low temperature by using nanoparticles. This phenomenon may have a large impact in solar application.
